US west

Hi,

My life is very boring so I haven't had much to post about. However Hubby and I are considering going out west sometime this year. We're looking at the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Mesa Verde, LA, The Meteor Crater, as options.

Has anyone been to any of these and have pointers, tips, little known attractions in the area they can recommend?

I would love to hear any feedback you have regarding the area.

Thanks,
Myra

Headboard progress....

Hubby and I were able to work on the headboard Sunday. It's finally starting to look like it might be something.....

So far I like it. A few more finishing touches, and some stain. If it looks ok stained - great. If not, I'll paint and age it.

So far we have $19.94 usd in it. Good thing I'm a hoarder. Oh, did I say that out loud? Oh well, you probably guessed that by now.

I have scavaged and collected all of the trim, boards etc. over several years. I can hardly wait to get it finished. Then I need to redo the room to go with it :)

It's laying on it's side, it's getting top heavy. The bottom board you see will be behind the mattress, so it won't really show.

I'll be back with more pics once I get it stained.

Have a great week.

dreaming of my Cornzebo

I have found a design concept I would like to try in my cornzebo. Keep in mind I won't have the same shapes, but I like how lots of contrasting shapes, sizes and colors are combined to create a very unique surface.

I found this pic at Sunset.com. I have some random size and shapes of old stone sidewalk. Not cement, stone. It is a very soft gray color. I could mix in some brick bats, etc for color. And since I'll need to make the round shapes, I could lightly color a few of those also. I don't want it too flashy, but earthy colors like this is.

My stone is more like the second picture. I like this one also, but I LOVE the first one.

Now that I have an idea of what I want, I have to go into hunter/gatherer mode. LOL I need to have my plan, and supplies ready for spring. I'm so excited!

Now I just have to decide whether to make the lighting very rustic, or whimsical, and find accessories to complement my rusty fun cornzebo.
