Happy Monday.

We had a series of storms roll through last night, dumping a lot of water, on snow covered ground. Well, most of the snow is now gone, except for big piles, but now we have lakes everywhere. I cross 11 different spots where the road was underwater on the way to work this morning. The first one surprised me, and I hit it at 55 mph. Water flew up over the top of the car, everywhere. Luckily I was out in the middle of nowhere, and alone. That got my attention and slowed me down a bit.

Well, hopefully the rest of the week will be mellow compared to the storms last night and this mornings ride to work.

Life's challenges

Our dog Brandy died this morning. She was 13 years old. I am surprised at how much it bothered me. I am normally a bit detached emotionally to pets, but I've been very emotional about this. There are many things I won't miss about having a dog in the house, but somehow she wormed her way into my heart. I think part of the emotion I'm feeling has to do with my parents. They died about a year and a half ago. Her death seemed to stir up the raw emotions still lingering from their deaths.

We continue to have drain issues. The bathtub isn't draining, so we will spend yet another weekend trying to find the ever elusive clog that has plagued us. We have removed several clogs, but there seems to be another, or some other issue still remaining.

I long for spring, to walk barefoot in the grass, smell the dirt as I work in the yard, ride my motorcycle, play outside with my grandkids, feel the sun upon my skin.

I'm going to go upstairs and work on my craft room. Working and crafting helps me work off stress.

I hope you have a wonderful day.

And if I gave birth to you.... know that you are loved. :)

It's been awhile

I've been working on making myself a craft room. My husband and I live in a large brick house built in 1882. The last year and a half we've only been using the 1st story of our house. We have about 1300 square feet, which is plenty for the two of us. When my girls were growing up, 4 bedrooms were perfect, since there are four of us, but now.... So, I couldn't figure out how to squeeze it in anywhere else, and we have 4 bedrooms not being used, so I've been lugging my craft supplies upstairs the last few weeks. I searched the internet for inspiration, found some awesome spaces, but I needed to create mine with very little to no cost.

Now, if you don't know me personally you have no idea that I'm always dragging discarded items home for future projects. I happened to have an antique kitchen table in my garage rafters. The top was waaayyy too small, but the legs worked just fine with a scrap piece of particle board attached it the top. I have come up with lots of similar ways to create storage without spending money. As soon as I finish, I'll post pictures.

Meanwhile, check out the folk art dragonflies I make out of repurposed "stuff".

I intend for my blog to highlight my found object dragonflies, projects etc. I hope you find something in the coming months that makes you smile.
