Sorry it's been so long since my last post. My computer has been very moody and worked only when it wanted to. I can't get on facebook at all without it locking up.
We lost a large limb out of our old willow a week or so ago. Our willow tree is 130 years old. Story is that two small willows were dug up at the Scioto River about a mile from here when the house was built in 1882. They were small enough to bring home in quart jars. Only one of the two remains. The other came down in the 60's. This one is getting in pretty sad shape. I hold my breath every time we have an ice storm fearing the largest section will come crashing down. The last time I got a quote to remove it the cost was over $1,000.00. Needless to say I can't afford that, and I'm very attached to this old tree, so I'll just love her until she can't go on any longer.
We picked up some goodies recently. I got a dozen oak spindles, we got two old columns, and some odd trim boards for future projects.
We found this piece to use to create a new headboard for our bed. I've been wanting something new, but old, and unique, so I found this piece for $15 and I think it will be perfect. Part of the trim was missing but we removed the rest anyway. I had this 15' piece of ancient trim off of something (got it years ago) and a couple of matching ancient pieces of trim with remnants of really crusty old finish on them. We have everything sanded up, and the old nail holes patched.
We'll be working on the headboard over the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping it turns out as good as I envision it will.
I hope everyone has a fabulous week.
